Tips and Ideas for the Perfect B&B: A Photo Tour

Thinking about opening a B&B? Take notes. These are some photos from my favorite B&B, which I love not only for the hospitable hosts—hi, Carolyn and Frank!—but also for the little touches and details that make a huge difference:

treats1Carolyn bakes constantly, so the sweet scents of vanilla and butter always waft from her kitchen. Guests are greeted by a table topped with treats… and get to be the guinea pigs with her newest recipes.

postage1Wish you were here! (Rather, wish I were there!) Send a complimentary photo postcard with complimentary postage.

cats1The kitties are friendly.

dogs2The dogs do tricks. (“Paw!”)

horses1Even the horses do tricks. (“Kisses!”)

movies1You can borrow a movie or a book from the inn’s collection anytime.

breakfastboard1The menu selection is broad. (The bottom of the board reads: “It doesn’t matter where you go in life. It’s who you have beside you.”)

breakfast1The country breakfast is rich, and the presentation is lovely.

stockedfridge1You can help yourself to a glass of wine from the inn’s stocked fridge and enjoy it on the porch swing overlooking the pastures.

view3And speaking of the pastures… How about that view! (Sigh.)

It’s no wonder Jeff and I go back year after year. In fact, we already booked our trip there for 2009.

Your turn: Do you have a favorite B&B? If so, why do you love it?

  1. I have nothing in mind. I stay at home and cook our food. Sometimes, I enjoy it. Sometimes I don’t especially when I have an idea bugging me to write it. Thanks goodness! Today, our helper arrived. I can write all day!

  2. Hey Josey – We’ve only stayed at a b & b once but we loved it. The family that owns it sold the original and just opened a new one. The food there was amazing. It is the Grand Canyon Bed and Breakfast.
