Travel Tip: Listen to Music at a Local College (Free!)

When was the last time you heard a live bassoon? How about a live harp? Last night, I attended the “New Music from Student Composers” concert in the dramatic concert hall at Mannes College of Music on New York City’s Upper West Side. The orchestration was stirring and thought-provoking… everything classical music should be. And when “Marc Snegg” and “Alexis Leonidou” are household names, I’ll get to say that I heard their musical arrangements before they were stars! So if you want to listen to music when you’re traveling, check out a local college. It’s FREE.

On a related note, brides, take heed! If you’ve always wanted a violinist to accompany your walk down the aisle or a vocalist to sing your first dance, don’t forget about music students. They’re talented and eager for exposure—plus, they’re often really inexpensive! Be sure to tune into Inside Edition tomorrow, where I’ll share more money-saving wedding tips.

Update: The Inside Edition shoot was pushed back a bit. I’ll let you know as soon as I find out the air date!
